Every morning, I sit at the same small table in Weird Doughs Cafe & Bakery in Temple, Texas, sipping on my favorite coffee blend and taking in the buzz of the early morning crowd. This place has become my ritual, my grounding force in this vibrant city I call home.

As I sit here, I can’t help but reflect on all my unique experiences and encounters while exploring Temple. This city is full of surprises, and there is always something new to discover. Last week, I met a local artist who creates stunning sculptures from recycled materials. His passion for his craft was inspiring, and it was a privilege to learn about his process.

One of the things I love most about Temple is the sense of community that permeates throughout the city. Whether it’s the friendly barista at Weird Doughs who always greets me with a smile or the stranger who holds the door open for me, there is kindness and generosity here that is truly special.

One particular act of kindness that stands out in my mind was when I walked into the park one day and stumbled upon a group of volunteers cleaning up the litter. I joined in and ended up chatting with one of the volunteers, who turned out to be a long-time resident of Temple. She shared with me her love for the city and how she gives back to the community. It was a humbling and uplifting experience, leaving a lasting impression on me.

As I finish my coffee and head out into the world, I think of how all these experiences fill me with gratitude. Whether I am meeting new people, discovering hidden gems, or simply enjoying life’s simple pleasures, Temple never fails to surprise and delight me. And I know that I can come back to Weird Doughs every morning and find comfort in the familiar surroundings and the kind faces of my fellow coffee drinkers.
